Love Renaissance
Love Renaissance or LVRN is an Atlanta-based music collective that manages artists such as Summer Walker, 6lack, Westside Boogie, Shelly fka Big Baby DRAM, and more. To support creatives during the COVID pandemic, LVRN hosted a "Work From Home" contest. This contest awarded winners cash prizes from $250 - $1000 to the best In show for whoever made the best design for the artists provided. The contest was open to graphic designers, set designers, animators, fashion, etc. I submitted as an animator and was awarded 2nd place for the LVRN logo animation. The collective supplied the .psd files, as well as the pngs for all participants. The gifs below, are my submissions.
Cruel Santino
Cruel Santino (formerly known as Santi before the 2021 name change) is a Nigerian-born artist who is molding a genre unto himself fed by his love for pop-indie, alternative, rap, dancehall, and more. Most of his visuals have a thriller/horror aesthetic or close to hand-drawn book cover of the 90's early 2000's era. I chose to stick to a theme and thought of "Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". The visual starts out with the white text (Dr. Jekyll) and smoke reveals the ominous yellow text (Mr. Hyde).
6lack
6lack (pronounce "Black") is an Atlanta-based singer, rapper, and songwriter. His lead single "Prblms" from his debut album Free 6lack, caught the ears of many and jump-started his career. 6lack has a dark tone when it comes to his vocal and visuals as well. Fitting into a crooner, analog, sound, and aesthetic, I wanted to make this with his logo being revealed by an ink blob mask, complimented by in-and-out camera focus and old tv static bar.
Viola + Kitty Ca$h
Voila is a brand copyrighted by New-York based DJ named Cachee Livingston or otherwise known as Kitty Ca$h. She specializes in collaborating and collecting artists to create magical, sonic, and encapsulating music. In the Voila brand is her merch, mixes, and more. With her being a DJ and my knowledge of producer and DJ culture, there is a lot of neon and laser lights in live shows. With that in mind, I felt the best way I could tell that story was to build the outline of "voila" and have it glitch to its full title as the graphic progresses.
